Study Number 27 EL ELYON – The Most High God.

Gen 14:18  And Melchizedek the king of Salem brought forth bread and wine. And he was the priest of the most high God.

Gen 14:19  And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of Heaven and earth.

Gen 14:20  And blessed be the most high God, who has delivered your enemies into your hand. And he gave him tithes of all.

Gen 14:21  And the king of Sodom said to Abram, Give me the people and take the goods for yourself.

Gen 14:22  And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lifted up my hand to Jehovah, the most high God, the possessor of Heaven and earth,

Gen 14:23  that I will take from all that is yours, not from a thread even to a shoestring, lest you say, I have made Abram rich.

Gen 14:24  Nothing for me, only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men who went with me, Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their portion.

Notes. In this episode, Abraham had conquered FOUR Armies with a small number of men [Three hundred and eighteen in all]. It was a Great victory. Abraham acknowledged his new found revelation that God was truly EL ELYON – the Most High God before the heathen King of Sodom. M. H.

El Elyon is greater than any circumstance we can encounter in our lives.

Melchizadek brings out bread and wine to meet Abraham

Daniel Purposed in His heart not to defile Himself.

Dan 1:8  Daniel made up his mind not to harm himself by eating the king's rich food and drinking the king's wine. So he asked the chief-of-staff for permission not to harm himself in this way.

Daniel decided to trust the Most High and so God began to lift him up to a place of responsibility of Babylon. “ The Lord will lift you up when you put your trust in Him and purpose in your heart not to live as the heathen.

Then Daniel Prayed and God gave him the dream and its interpretation.

When all the other wise men of Babylon could not tell Nebuchadnezzar what his dream was nor the interpret it, Daniel prayed and God revealed it to him. Secret belong to God and to whoever He chooses to reveal him.

Dan 2:47  The king said to Daniel, "Your God is truly the greatest of gods, the Lord over kings. He can reveal secrets because you were able to reveal this secret."

Dan 2:48  Then the king promoted Daniel and gave him many wonderful gifts. Nebuchadnezzar made Daniel governor of the whole province of Babylon and head of all Babylon's wise advisers.

Applications.

1.      Abraham acknowledged that El- ELYON had given him the Victory. Remember that God is able to intervene for you in Miraculous ways because He is over all.

2.      As we purpose in our hearts and pray, God will lift us up and promote us as He did to Daniel. Promotion does come from the LORD so we don’t need to push and pull strings. Look at Daniel and imitate him. God will lift you up.
